ABOUT

While my career path since graduating from William Woods University in 2007 has taken me across the country to barns and horse shows capturing the beauty of the Morgan, Saddlebred and Arabian breeds (both for myself, Jon McCarthy Photography, and alongside renowned show photographer Howard Schatzberg), a longtime interest in ceramics has also taken on a daily role recently.

For years I have wanted to explore the art of ceramics, specifically wheel throwing.  In 2022, after several waitlist attempts at various local studios, I landed in a class at Red Heat Ceramics in Tulsa, OK.  What began as a single class quickly blossomed into a full-fledged passion.  One class led to another, and before I knew it, I was welcomed as a studio member there.  Now, whenever I am not on the road for shows, Red Heat has become my creative haven.

Artist Statement:

Embracing the art of ceramics has been a transformative journey of self-discovery and growth for me. Although I am still in the early stages of my artistic development, I am captivated by the endless potential of clay as a medium. Each piece I craft is a testament to my curiosity, passion for learning, and joy in experimentation with shapes, textures, glazes, and firing processes. My work reflects a sense of openness to new ideas and a deep appreciation for the artistic process, inviting viewers to share in my exploration of form, function, and expression.
